PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manage an electronic mail without imposing load on a provider server by showing the state of an electronic mail downloaded through an accessing means to a mail server on each of plural terminal devices and transmitting the electronic mail stored in a mail storing means to any of the terminal devices. ;SOLUTION: An electronic mail 104b to a user arrives at a provider server 104. A telephone set 201 accesses the server 104 through a telephone line 106 when a time designated by an instruction from a clock part comes. When the set 201 and the server 104 are connected, whether or not a mail to oneself arrives at the server 104 is retrieved. When the mail 104b arrives at the server 104, the mail 104b of the server 104 is downloaded and the mail 104b is stored in a storage part.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
