PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crack control structure for a concrete member for causing a crack to occur in a particular position, while maintaining the strength of the concrete member. ;SOLUTION: A columnar member 20 is buried into the concrete member in such a way as to correspond to the position of a decorated joint 14 provided in the concrete member 10. The columnar member has a compression strength whereby it functions as a concrete member, and the strength of junction between the columnar member and the concrete member 12 is set at a low value. The outer peripheral surface of the columnar member is divided into at least two areas 24a and 24b, and a water cutoff member 16 is provided for causing a crack 12a that reaches one of the areas to be shut off from the other of the areas. The columnar member comprises a pipe 24 filled with shrinkage- compensating mortar 22. A rust preservation process 18 is performed on reinforcement 30 between the decorated joint and the columnar member. The columnar member may be a mortar member to which an insulating tape is affixed or on the surface of which a release agent is applied.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
