PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process for fine particles of tetrabromobisphenol A diallyl ether of high purity that is useful for baeds- formaing polystyrene and manifests high flame retardancy. ;SOLUTION: Tetrabromobisphenol-A, allyl chloride and sodium hydroxide are allowed to react in a water-methanol mixed solvent to prepare a reaction mixture, then water is added, methanol is evaporated off to collect the slurry of tetrabromobisphenol-A diallyl ether. The slurry is extracted with a solvent, the extract is washed with water, added to a poor solvent, thus crystallizing out the objective tetrabromobisphenol-A diallyl ether.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
