PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an austenitic stainless steel which balances scale exfoliation resistance and carburization resistance with σ embrittlement resistance, at high levels.;SOLUTION: The austenitic stainless steel includes 0.02-0.10% C, 1.5-2.5% Si, 2.0% or less Mn, 0.04% or less P, 0.02% or less S, 7-12% Ni, 15-25% Cr, 0.001-0.1% in total of one or more of Y and REM (rare-earth metals), and 0.02-0.20% N, and can further include, one or more of 0.05-0.5% Nb, 0.05-0.5% Ti, 0.1-4.0% Mo, and 0.1-4.0% Cu, and/or one or two of 0.01-2.5% Al and 0.001-0.1% Ca.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
