PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately and simply detect a partial discharge occurring in a power apparatus by using an ultrasonic wave.;SOLUTION: A partial discharge detection system of a power apparatus comprises: an ultrasonic sensor 10 mounted on the insulator of the power apparatus 17 for detecting the ultrasonic wave occurring during AC power supply to the power apparatus; a frequency component detecting section 18 for detecting a frequency component by subjecting the ultrasonic wave detected by the sensor 10 to frequency analysis; and a judging section 19 wherein an occurring frequency of the frequency component of the ultrasonic wave and a frequency of the AC power supplied to the apparatus, i.e., a power source frequency, are compared with each other and partial discharge is judged to have occurred if the occurring frequency of the ultrasonic wave is equal to the power source frequency or within twice the power source frequency.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
