PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce external discharge of gas in a waste melting furnace by separating a traveling truck from a refuse charting unit of the furnace to a standby position, and connecting to communicate a throwing hopper with an intermediate hopper in a sealed state by moving a valve plate, thereby easily and effectively inspecting. ;SOLUTION: The gas shut-off valve 19 can stand by at a standby position 28 at an outside of a furnace when a sealing operation is not executed in a refuse disposal operation. Accordingly, a sealing packing can be easily replaced in a short time. Further, since a traveling truck 31 of a moving mechanism of a valve plate 29 is disposed at the outside of the furnace, the valve 19 is easily maintained and inspected without influence of dust or refuse. And, even when the plate 29 is retracted together with the truck 31 to the standby position, it is moved down in an elevation shaft 36, and brought into contact with an upper end opening 17a of an intermediate hopper 17 to connect to communicate a charge hopper 18 with an intermediate hopper 17 in an airtight state, the refuse charged in the hopper 18 does not scatter to the exterior.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
