PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a denim fabric having sufficiently clear twill lines on the surface, dry and soft natural touch and light feeling, resistant to creasing and exhibiting a flat appearance and provide a method for processing a denim fabric to produce the objective denim fabric.;SOLUTION: The processing method for a denim fabric comprises the treatment of exclusively the surface of a denim fabric with caustic soda solution and the retention of the treated denim fabric in air while stretching the fabric at least in the warp direction.
