PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a caliper simply and easily hold a friction pad without requiring a special leased part in the case of concave-convexly fitting the friction pad and the caliper. ;SOLUTION: A holding mechanism for a disc brake friction pad is composed by concave-convexly fitting the back metal 40 of a friction pad and a caliper claw 24. In this case, a shim 42 is insertedly set between the caliper claw 24 and an outer pad 26, and the shim 42 is provided with a tongue piece on the edge of a through hole of a fitting projection, and the tongue piece is bent to form a spring piece 46, which is inserted into a gap formed in an irregular fitted part to make the caliper claw 24 elastically hold the outer pad 26. The spring piece 46 is provided in one pair, and its elastic pressure direction is set up to be a rotor peripheral direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
