PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a signal making it possible to generate a musical sound of good quality according to a signal obtained according to the vibration of a string even when a vibration suppressing means such as a mute member is mounted.;SOLUTION: The filter characteristic of a filter correcting a signal detected by a pickup of a violin mounted with the mute member is derived as follows. Namely, signals detected by the pickup in mute playing and normal playing are obtained and the filter characteristic is derived according to the difference between amplitude characteristics of the both.
