PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crucible for growing a crystal, with which the polycrystallization is prevented and a calcium fluoride single crystal can be surely grown, and to provide a method for producing the calcium fluoride crystal, and the calcium fluoride crystal.;SOLUTION: The crucible is used for growing the crystal along the crystal plane of a seed by melting calcium fluoride and cooling the molten calcium fluoride. The crucible has an inner surface formed from tantalum carbide (TaC) and is characterized in that the contact angle between its inner surface and a water drop is ≤150°.
