PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short-time heat treatment method for an alpha plus beta titanium alloy. ;SOLUTION: The alpha plus beta titanium alloy is rapidly heated to 1,073 to 1,373 K, held for a short period of time of ≤180 s, and then cooled rapidly. Subsequently, the alloy is rapidly heated to 723 to 973 K, held for a short period of time of ≤180 s, and then cooled. By this method, the alpha plus beta titanium alloy having ≥1,150 MPa yield strength ≥1,250 MPa tensile strength, and ≥30% reduction of area can be obtained in the case of a Ti-6Al-4V alloy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
