PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To visually monitor the height of a filter bed 5 and the circulation state of a filter medium. PSOLUTION: The height of the bed 5 is detected by fitting a ring rod 4 swingable freely in the vertical direction to the inner wall surface of a filtration tank 2, fitting a detector 6 movable vertically according to the vertical fluctuation of the surface of the bed 5 to the tip part of the rod 4 and fitting an indication bar 7 to the detector 6, the position of which is visible from the outside of the tank 2. The circulation state of the filter medium is confirmed visually from the outside of the tank 2 by inserting a rotating body 11 fit to the tip part of a freely rotating shaft 10 into the place where the continuously cleaned filter medium falls in a filtrate 8 toward the bed 5 and making the filter medium collide with the body 11 to rotate the body 11 and the shaft 10.
