PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability of a spent fuel assembly handling tool to considerably shorten handling time and to reduce labor by dissolving the danger of damaging a pressing collar fixedly provided at a guide pin, by colliding against a structure of an upper nozzle regarding the handling tool for gripping and hanging a spent fuel assembly in pool water and taking it out in this state. SOLUTION: In a plurality of guide pins 3i hangingly provided at the lower part of the spent fuel assembly handling tool, the pressing collar 6 with a lower end side flat peripheral edge surface 6a to be received by a placing face 5n of an upper nozzle 5a of the spent fuel assembly 5 is formed with an upper end side tapered peripheral edge surface 6b formed to be tapered upward on the opposite side to the lower end side flat peripheral edge surface 6a. When lifted in the direction of an arrow mark F1, the guide pin 3i is pressed to escape in the direction of an arrow mark F2 by the collision of the upper end side tapered peripheral edge surface 6b against the structure 5g of the upper nozzle 5a. The guide pin 3i is thereby prevented from being held to the structure 5g or damaged.
