PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rib and a method of manufacturing the rib used in an umbrella comprising an inside cap fixed to an upper end of a shank, a runner externally inserted slidably to the shank, a handle fixed to a lower end of the shank, the ribs respectively pivoted on the inside cap at its basic end part, and spreaders respectively pivoted on the runner and a longitudinal intermediate part of each rib at both end parts, and having the ribs made out of an approximately linearly extended elastically deformable synthetic resin round bar material.;SOLUTION: A tubular material is externally fitted to a part separated from a tip of the rib by a predetermined length, the tubular material comprises a basic-side tubular part extended toward the inside cap through a refracted part refracted to an axis, and a tip-side tubular part extended toward the handle, and the rib comprises a rib body part linearly extended from the basic-side tubular part of the tubular material to the basic end part, and a rib tip part extended from the tip-side tubular part of the tubular material toward the handle.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
