PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft ground improvement method by vacuum consolidation capable of driving a vertical drainage material within a short time by reduced number of site works and efficiently carrying out soft ground improvement work.;SOLUTION: An air impermeable section 15 having water permeability inside thereof with a specific length from the end and cutting off vent from the circumferential surface is provided to the upper end of the vertical drainage material 2 cut to the length corresponding to the insertion depth into the soft ground 1, the vertical drainage material 2 fixing an air-tight cap 17 to the upper end in advance is used, the air-tight cap 17 having an integral part of a drainage cylindrical material 18 is fixed to the upper end of the vertical drainage material 2 in advance, the front end of the drainage cylindrical material 18 integrally projected from the air-tight cap is fixed to the lower end of the other vertical drainage material 2 to connect a large number of vertical drainage materials to each other as one piece, and at a site of ground improvement, the drainage cylindrical material 18 is cut to successively insert the vertical drainage materials into the soft ground.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
