PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical function waveguide which is small-sized and energy-saving and can control the phase of light or adjust the optical path length.;SOLUTION: The optical function waveguide comprises a substrate 11, a quartz waveguide clad 12, a quartz waveguide core 13, a groove structure 14, a filling material 15, and an electrode 16 for a heater. The filling material 15 charged in the groove structure 14 is a material such as resin which is transparent within the waveguide region of guided light and the refractive index-temperature coefficient is 10 to 100 times as large as that of quartz. Electrodes 16 for heaters are formed at positions between a plurality of groove structures 14 which are formed along the optical path, so the temperature of the filling material 15 can greatly be varied fast with small energy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
