PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel gas chromatography system for carrying a determinable quantity of a sample quickly and reproducibly. ;SOLUTION: The gas chromatography system comprises a column 12 and an injector 14 having a chamber wherein a carrier gas is normally fed at a constant rate into the chamber and a predetermined primary pressure is held at the inlet of column 12. A sampling receptacle 108 conducts a sample case 106 selectively with a carrying gas source or the chamber. The sample case 106 is pressurized by the carrying gas at a starting pressure higher than the primary pressure. An analytical sample in the carrying gas is then carried from the case 106 to the chamber by the pressure in the case when it is sustained higher than the primary pressure. The carrying gas is stopped during carriage and the analytical sample is carried through the chamber into the column 12 according to the primary pressure which is a linear function of time.
