A method for reducing the level of skin grayness in an xerose individual having a Fitzpatrick type 4 or higher, comprising applying to the skin of said individual a composition (a) having a cleansing surfactant or mixture of surfactants. sufficient cleansing to clean the skin, and (b) a component or mixture of moisturizing components, in sufficient amounts to reduce the level of said skin grayness.
