The invention relates to a carbonated beverage container provided with a chamber (2) containing the beverage, a beverage dispensing opening (13) for the beverage from the chamber, a pressure medium chamber (9) which is in fluid communication with the chamber (2) to supply pressure medium to the chamber, which pressure chamber has an outlet that is closed by a pressure valve (12) and a pressure regulating element (10), connected with the manifold (12), to operate the manifold (12), wherein the pressure regulating element (10) has a housing (35) with an end wall (40), a peripheral wall (36) and a piston (19) which may be moved in the housing along the peripheral wall in a sealed manner, an upper housing part (39) being formed between a side of the piston, which faces the terminal wall (40), and the terminal wall, and a the lower housing portion (37) which at least partially surrounds the manifold (12) is formed on the piston side, spaced with respect to the end wall, the piston (19) engaging the manifold and wherein the upper housing portion 39 of the housing is in fluid communication with a reference pressure source.
