A gun with a comb disconnect mechanism that disables gun discharge capability when the comb is removed. The gun may generally include a frame holding a comb, a dog pivotally mounted to the frame, and a dog-engageable holding device. The restraint is operable to hold the dog in a cocked position and to release the dog from the cocked position to discharge the gun. A locking member may be provided that is movable in and out of engagement with the retainer in response to removing the comb and inserting the comb into the gun. The locking member engages the retainer when the comb is removed to prevent the retainer from moving and releasing the dog while retained in the cocked position by the retainer. A trigger lock is also provided in which the trigger prevents the comb from being removed when the trigger has been partially pulled by a user.
