The present invention relates to a novel highly selective preparation process of enantiomer pure phenyl substituted derivatives of 1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid of the general formula I, intermediates for such preparation as well as use of derivatives of malic acid optically active imides in this preparation.
