The system has guiding devices (2a-2d) which are connected via a data transfer link to a set of control units controlling an elevator system. The set of control units comprises a unit for controlling sub-assemblies of the elevator system. The set of control units comprises a destination call device e.g. a key panel, for receiving passenger`s destination calls. The guiding devices contain a control unit (3) and a number of sound reproduction devices (4) for the reproduction of guiding sounds. An independent claim is also included for a method for guiding passengers in a multi-route elevator system.
