The invention relates to an improved water entry device for facilitating delivery of water to a water distributor of an evaporative cooler (10), said water entry device comprising conduit means (17) for conveying water to the top of one or more corners of said evaporative cooler (10); a water entry point (18) at the top of said one or more corners of said evaporative cooler (10). A cap (27) covering said water entry point (18) is disposed over the entry point of the conduit (17); and in that said cap (27) is shaped to produce a curtain of water feeding a plurality of channel means (26, 30) for conveying water from the water entry point (18) to a water spreader (23).
