A METHOD FOR MAINTAINING FRESHNESS AND EXTENSION OF SHELF LIFE OF CUT-FLOWERS

A method for maintaining freshness and the extension of shelf life of cut-flowers by use of Equilibrium Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). More particularly the method involves a combination of Equilibrium Modified Atmosphere Packaging(MAP) and exposure to gammas radiation and cold temperature of 5C to 15C for mainataining freshness and extension of shelf life of cut-flowers. The invention further relates to storing cut-flowers afresh without the stem being dipped into solvents/preservatives during storage.
