Access by persons and/or vehicles to a land area or a building is controlled by the installation provided on a displaceable foot plate. On the foot plate (1) are fixed two housings (4,5), on the facing sides of which are doors (6,7) pivotable around vertical axes. The doors can be pivoted approximately through 90 degrees to provide free access between the housings. One of the housings can be provided with a payment automat (8) so that access is granted to a person after payment. The automat is also capable of recognizing identity cards, so that only persons with a valid card are allowed access. It is also possible to contemplate manual opening and closure of the doors.
