The invention relates to the medicine, namely to the pediatric anesthesiology and may be used both for urgent and for elective abdominal surgery for the effective anesthetic management of the newborns. The method for the epidural anesthesia in the newborns provides for administration of the topical anesthetic into the epidural space through the sacral canal in the volume of 0.7 ml/kg and 1.0 ml/kg for the epidural anesthesia up to the fifth thoracic vertebra, and the second thoracic vertebra, respectively.
