Solid dosage form comprising 10 %, by weight of freeze-dried live lactic acid bacteria and an excipient powder mixture of inulin and lactose in the form of a directly compressed tablet, optionally with an enteric coating, is new. An independent claim is also included for producing the solid dosage form by mixing and optionally drying the excipients, adding the freeze-dried bacteria, homogenizing the mixture and compressing the mixture at 4-50 kN in an eccentric press to form biplanar or convex tablets.
