Latex reagent for the detection of antibodies against Legionella pneumophila. A procedure (immunodiagnostic test) is described to detect and quantify specific Legionella pneumophila antibodies in serological samples, by agglutination-sedimentation of latex particles sensitized with a Legionella pneumophila lipid antigen. It also describes the method of obtaining the sensitized latex particles and the reaction buffer where the immunoreaction takes place. Immunodiagnostic development takes place in wells of a microtiter plate by mixing the sensitized particles with samples of human sera in a specific reaction buffer. The presence of antibodies is detected by agglutination of sensitized latex particles and the absence is detected by sedimentation of these particles. This test is economical, technically simple, has a high temporal stability and adequate levels of sensitivity and specificity, according to the serological reference techniques.
