Use of an extract of Sophora flavescens and Sophora subprostrata for the preparation of a drug consisting of an extract of Sophora flavescens and Sophora subprostrata and in usual pharmaceutically compatible auxiliary substances, for the prophylaxis and therapy of pathological conditions, which are caused by estrogen deficiency or due to a dysregulation of the sex hormone metabolism, in particular estrogen metabolism, the pathological states being chosen from the set consisting of prostate cancer, matrix cancer, climacteric disorders, benign prostatic hyperplasia, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease and cardiocirculatory diseases.
