UNIVERSAL DATA INPUT CARD FOR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS - PARTICULARLY GPS SYSTEMS - AND THE GPS DEVICE CAPABLE OF READING THE CARD

Universal data input card which loads the data of a destination point and theroute into the navigation device. The card can beproduced completely by printing and can be published in any printed product.On the card comprising a picture field (3) to locate a photoand a text field (4) for text information, miniature map segments (2) containthe route information and a bar-code (1) gives the coordinatesof the destination point. The card of the selected destination point is simplyinserted into the card input slot (7) of the GPS device which isbuilt together with an optoelectronic card reader then the device navigatesthe driver to the destination point by means of the informationshown on the display (6) which can be completed by additional voiceinformation. The purpose of introducing the system which operateswith a printed card is to spread GPS technology in everyday use for thepublic.
