Compositions of matter are provided which comprisea mixture of isolated muscle precursor cells with eitherisolated mesenchymal stem cells or isolated periosteumcells, optionally further including a myoinductive agent.Also provided are a method for inducing isolated humanmesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into myogenic cells,a method for producing dystrophin-positive myogenic cells ina mammal with commitment muscle regeneration, and a use ofthe compositions for treating muscular dystrophy.
