A land clearing tractor and process are provided for selectively clearing aland ofbrush and trees. The tractor has a traction unit for moving the tractor alongadirection of travel. A supporting frame is connected to the traction unit. Theframehas first and second sides, and a raised section between the first and secondsides.A first shredder head is operatively connected to the first side of the frameandoriented parallel to the direction of travel. The first shredder head ismovablebetween elevated and lowered positions for clearing brush and trees in a firstband.A second shredder head is operatively connected to the second side of theframe.The second shredder head is parallel to the first shredder head and is spacedaparttherefrom. The second shredder head is movable between elevated and loweredpositions for clearing brush and trees in a second band spaced apart from thefirstband. Thereby, the tractor leaves between the first and second bands aresidualband of brush and trees.
