METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REDUCING OR PREVENTING NOISE DEVELOPMENT OF FRICTION BRAKES AND FRICTION CLUTCHES

The friction brake is provided with abrake lining. The support plate (1) of saidbrake lining is provided with a friction lining(2). Two resonators (3) which are diagonallydisplaced against each other are formed in thematerial of the support plate (1). The naturalfrequency of the resonators (3) is adjustedto the friction induced excitation frequencyof the support plate (1). The surfaces ofthe resonators (3) are dimensioned in sucha way that the sound waves thus generatedlie beyond the human hearing range. Theresonators (3) use the vibration energy whichis supplied to the support plate (1) withoutcausing audible noises. Hence, the brake isacoustically attenuated.
