The present invention relates to a car multimedia apparatus comprising adisplay device(14) for displaying information including hierarchically structured menus withmenuitems, a controller device (16) for selecting and activating menu items, and acontroldevice (12) for controlling said display and for receiving selecting andactivating signalsfrom said controller device. It further comprises a memory device (28, 30)adapted tostore a predetermined number of information identifying a menu or a menu item,amemory control device (12) for writing information to said memory device andforreading said stored information out of said memory, said memory control device(12)being adapted to write information of a menu item upon its activation via saidcontrollerdevice, and to read said stored information and supply it to said controldevice (12) uponactivation of said controller device (16), and said control device beingadapted to displaysaid supplied information on said display device as selectable and activatablemenu itemsallowing to reach the menus or menu items identified by said displayedinformation. Theinvention also relates to a method for controlling the display ofhierarchically structuredmenus on a display device of a car multimedia apparatus, each menu comprisingat leastone menu item for being selected and activated.
