The invention features synthetic biomaterials and methods for their formationhaving incorporated bioactive factors whereby the bioactive factor iscovalently bound to the biomaterial by an enzymatically degradable linkage.These biomaterials may be used for localized delivery of pharmaceuticallyactive ingredients, the bioactive factors, for tissue repair and regenerationand in particular for regeneration of soft and hard tissue, such as skin,bone, tendons and cartilage.
