AN APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE FOR DISCOVERING ENDPOINTS IN A SERVERLESS PEER TO PEER NETWORK

Methods are described that facilitate presence publication which may includeauthorizing publication of presence at a first endpoint, if the publication isauthorized, assembling a presence data structure, and broadcasting thepresence data structure from the first endpoint. The method may also includethe presence structure including a friendly name, contact information, andendpoint information. The method further including contact information in atleast one of XML format, vCard format, and the endpoint information obtainedfrom a peer name resolution protocol. The method may additionally include thepresence data structure encoded as at least one of a generic discoveryprotocol message, a simple service discovery protocol message, and associatinga globally unique identifier with the discovery protocol messages. The methodmay include a user entity authorizing presence publication, the user entitysetting at least one of a default parameter authorizing publication of allpresence, some presence, or no presence.
