The invention relates to a method for producing a single-phase or multiphase powder, optionally in the form of a colloidal suspension of sesquioxide, oxohydroxide, hydroxide or pure rare-earth mixed oxide, while in a mixture or doped, the rare-earth portion representing more than 50 % of the mass of the obtained powder. The invention also relates to essentially spherical powder particles having a mean diameter ranging between 20 and 800 nm and being nanostructured of LnSUB2/SUBOSUB3/SUB and a colloidal suspension.
