[PROBLEMS] To provide a telephone calling apparatus wherein when a character sequence is included in a portion of a window developed by any general-purpose application software, it can be taken in only by designating a particular area by use of a mouse pointing device or the like to make a call. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A telephone calling apparatus (1) comprises a communication apparatus (10) and a computer (11). The operation can be performed on a screen of a display (13) of the computer (11), and only performing the operation on the screen can cause the communication apparatus (10) connected to the computer (11) to connect a telephone device (3) to a communication line (5), thereby making a telephone call. The computer (11) comprises extracting means for positioning a cursor in an application display window to designate a reading area of the application display window, thereby taking in a displayed information in the reading area to extract a desired character sequence from the displayed information; and means for making a call by use of the extracted character sequence.
