The invention relates to a signaling gateway for use in a heterogeneous communications system (CSY). The signaling gateway (GW) comprises a client emulation unit (CLT) for connecting to a peer-to-peer communications network (LAN1) and for exchanging status information (S2) with the clients (P2PC) of the peer-to-peer network (LAN1). In addition, a communication service unit (TSPI) is provided in the signaling gateway (GW) for exchanging status information (S2) with the client emulation unit (CLT) and for reciprocally converting status information (S2) into signaling information (S1) that can be processed by a communications facility (PBX) that is provided for centrally controlling communications terminals (PH) located within a second communications network (LAN2).
