The invention concerns a method for deliberately triggering the ignition of at least a pyrotechnic device (11) in particular for the deployment of at least a safety element (13) such as an airbag in a motor vehicle passenger compartment (15), said ignition capable of being triggered by at least an output signal (S) to be transmitted by a computer (1). The invention is characterised in that it comprises the following steps: varying the supply voltage of said computer (1) according to a predetermined sequence; identifying said predetermined sequence; and causing said output signal (S) to be transmitted as a result of said identification.
