Welding tongs comprises a linear drive (1) having a pressure control unit (3) with at least two independent control circuits for impinging pressure of two working chambers (7a, 7b) of a pneumatic cylinder (2) separating the working plunger (8) so that the plunger is moved. The control circuits control the pressure impingement via at least independent multiple way valves. An Independent claim is also included for a process for controlling welding tongs using the linear drive.
