The invention relates to an apparatus (100) for aiding individuals with a reading disability. The apparatus comprises an input unit for input of textual information, particularly a scanner (150) containing two CIS sensors. The apparatus further comprises user operating elements (160), a screen (166), a memory (120, 130) and a processor (110). The processor (110) is arranged to OCR-process (214) the scanned information in order thereby to generate a text data portion. The processor (110) is further arranged to segment (220) the portion of text into line elements, to read (230) the user operating elements, to select (240) a line element based on the reading of the user operating elements (160), and to display (224) a connected segment of the portion of text on the screen, the selected line element being located and highlighted in a central area of the screen. The invention also relates to a method and a computer program which are suitable to be executed by such an apparatus.
