[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A work management system for managing the progress of a work comprises a step recording section in which while associating a pervious step with at least one of work steps, the previous step which is another work step providing a product with the associated work step is recorded and a reference maturity recording section in which a reference maturity which is the maturity of the product at each previous step corresponding to one work step recorded in the step recording section and necessary to start the one work step is recorded. The maturity of the product at each previous step associated with one work step and recorded in the step recording section is acquired. On condition that the maturity at each previous step associated with one work step and recorded in the step recording section is equal to or higher than the reference maturity of the previous step, a message to the effect that the one work step can be started is sent.
