The device has a microcontroller (14) and a circuit (16) with a detection unit to detect presence of a probe connected to a connector. The detection unit has a unit to detect and count spontaneous depolarizations collected between terminals of a connector head, to compare a number of depolarizations with a preset counting threshold, and to deliver an implantation suspicion signal when the number of depolarizations exceed the threshold. The unit detects and counts the depolarizations when a measured value of current supplied by a battery does not exceed a preprogrammed current threshold.
