An alkaline fuel cell incorporates an electrolyte (1) on which is arranged an anode (2) including at least some first and second thin films (3, 4). The first thin film is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. The second thin film is made of zinc or zinc alloy and is arranged between the first thin film and the electrolyte. An independent claim is also included for the fabrication of an anode for an alkaline fuel cell by physical vapor phase deposition of the zinc thin film.
