The invention relates to a method for the regioselective oxidation of a cyclodextrin. The inventive method is characterised in that an α-, β-, η-cyclodextrin is brought into contact with an oxidation mediator which preferably takes the form of a stoichiometric or catalytic quantity of an oxoammonium ion and, in the latter case, in the presence of a parallel redox system which enables the in situ regeneration of the used oxidation mediator. The invention also relates to a device which is used to implement said method.
