Cache consistency in a shared-memory multiprocessor system

The method involves determining the presence of data in a cache memory (93) and determining the necessity to carry out a data consistency storage operation, by a processor (9). A message indicating the data state in the cache memory and indicating the storage operation is transmitted by the processor to a snooping device. The storage operation indicated to the device is carried out by the processor. The storage operations, transmitted based on an order fixed according to the data state in the cache memories, are carried out by the snooping device.
