The present invention relates to a fluorescent material , specifically Sr _3-x SiO ₅ : Eu ^{2 +} _x (x is 0 & x 1) strontium silicate-based phosphor represented by , the present invention relates to a method of manufacturing the same , and a light emitting diode using the same. A light emitting diode using a phosphor according to the present invention has a wide spectrum of wavelengths , showed excellent properties in color purity if , when applied to the back of the light source of the LED and an active luminous LCD , it can have a very high luminous efficiency .
