A pharmaceutical composition is provided to decrease the lipid concentration of liver tissue and plasma increased by taking alcohol, and normalize the activity of liver function index enzyme. The pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating alcoholic liver disease and alcoholic hyperlipidemia comprises an extract of Codonopsis lanceolata, which is prepared by using water or C1-6 alcohol, as an effective ingredient. The extract of Codonopsis lanceolata is used as an effective ingredient of functional food composition for preventing alcoholic liver disease and alcoholic hyperlipidemia.
