A dangerous area guiding method and system of a GPS(Global Positioning System) traffic safety terminal using an ellipse are provided to reduce the cost for memories by forming dangerous area guiding algorism with two focuses and the major axis length of the ellipse equation and deciding the progressive direction of a vehicle on the basis of the speed. A dangerous area guiding system of a GPS traffic safety terminal includes a data storage unit(350); a GPS module unit(300) receiving a GPS satellite signal and calculating the present position of a vehicle; and a central processing unit(320) warning the existence of a dangerous area at least one time if the calculated present position is in an elliptical warning region. The data storage unit stores a dangerous area and a first dangerous area warning position disposed in front of the dangerous area. The elliptical warning region is drawn up by setting the first dangerous area warning position and the dangerous area as two focuses. The central processing unit determines that the vehicle is in the elliptical warning region if the sum of the distance from the present position to the first dangerous area warning position and the distance from the present position to the dangerous area is shorter or same as the major axis of the elliptical warning region. The central processing unit outputs a warning voice by determining that the vehicle moves to the dangerous area if a change value of the distance from the present position to the dangerous area is over a predetermined ratio of a distance change value changed according to the actual speed of the vehicle.
